Senior Irish Official Denies allegations in EU Cronyism Scandal

The head of Irish rural advocacy group Rural Link, Séamus Boland, has come under scrutiny following allegations that he attempted to identity a whistleblower in his capacity as President of the leadership of the EU consultative body the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) rather than investigating claims of improper appointments within the organisation.

Boland, whose office firmly denied wrongdoing in a statement provided to Gript, was drawn into the controversy this week after fresh reporting emerged concerning allegations against EESC secretary general Isabelle Le Galo Flores.
