Liverpool twice gave up the lead as they were held to a galling 3-3 draw by Leeds on Saturday night, leaving Slot’s side with just two wins in their last six matches.
Salah was not involved at Elland Road. He has been made to watch from the sidelines in recent weeks as Slot attempts to pull Liverpool out of their nosedive.
In a bombshell post-match interview, the Egyptian suggested he could leave the club in January.
“I can’t believe it, that I’m sitting on the bench for 90 minutes,” he declared. “I think it’s the third time I’ve been benched. It’s the first time in my career.”
He continued, saying he has been scapegoated for Liverpool’s struggles this season: “I’m very disappointed, I’ve done so much for this club. Everyone has seen it in recent years, especially last season.
“I don’t know why I’m sitting on the bench. It feels like the club is throwing me under the bus, that’s how I feel.
“I do not accept the situation.
“The club promised me a lot in the summer, but I’ve been on the bench for three games. I can’t say they’ve kept their promises.
“I have said many times that I have a good relationship with the manager, but suddenly we don’t have a relationship anymore. I don’t know why.
“It seems like someone doesn’t want me at the club.”
Salah will join up with Egypt’s AFCON camp on December 15, and suggested he might not return.
“At Anfield I will say ‘goodbye’ to the supporters, because I am going to [AFCON]. I don’t know what will happen when I am there.”
Pressed as to whether Liverpool’s upcoming match against Brighton could be his last for the club, he added: “In football, you never know. I don’t accept the situation and I have done so much for this club.”
The forward indicated that his relationship with Slot had broken down completely.
“I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, it seems to me, how I see it, someone doesn’t want me in the club,” he said.
Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has become the club’s third-highest scorer behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt, but it appears that he feels his time on Merseyside may be coming to an end.
“I don’t think I’m the problem. I have done so much for this club with the respect I want to get. And I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I’ve earned it,” Salah said.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen now, so I’m just going to be in Anfield, say goodbye to the fans (before) going to Africa Cup (of Nations), because I don’t know what’s going to happen when I’m there … it’s not acceptable for me, to be fair. I don’t know why that happened. Always to me, I don’t get it.”
