A failing in the legal system that is leading to a significant number of court-imposed penalty points going unrecorded is one step closer to being addressed.

The Courts Service and An Garda Síochána are now committed to engage directly with each other to ensure a ­motorist’s unique driver number is captured at the earliest stage and recorded throughout the entire case process, according to Dublin West Fine Gael TD Emer Currie.
