An infant boy has died following a crash in Co Louth at the weekend.

Gardaí continue to investigate the two-car crash on the R132 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk on Saturday.

The infant boy, who was a passenger in one of the cars, has since been pronounced dead at Children’s Health Ireland, Temple Street.

The driver of that car, a woman aged in her late 20s, was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his early 50s, and a teenage girl who was a passenger in the car were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A technical examination of the scene was conducted by garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7.50pm and 8.20pm are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk garda station on 042 938 8400, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
