Madrid (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi-Spanish Economic Business Council convened in Madrid on Friday, bringing together Iraqi Ambassador to Spain Ali Shamran Hashim Al-Bayati, a senior government delegation, and executives from major Spanish industrial, trade, and investment institutions.
Hosted by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the forum aimed to deepen commercial cooperation between Baghdad and Madrid, broaden bilateral investment opportunities, and establish structured joint ventures across vital economic sectors.
Delegates reviewed pathways to expand Spanish commercial involvement in Iraq, particularly in transport, renewable energy, water management, healthcare, and civil infrastructure.
The Madrid summit reflects ongoing efforts by the Iraqi federal government to diversify foreign partnerships beyond traditional markets, encouraging European corporate participation in post-reconstruction development through direct investment, technical joint ventures, and sustainable cross-border trade frameworks.
