Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi is scheduled to visit Kuwait and Bahrain this week as part of a regional diplomatic tour.
Official sources confirmed the trip is set for the current week, with reports noting a visit to Bahrain planned around Wednesday.
Al-Zaidi is expected to hold talks in Kuwait focusing on resolving longstanding bilateral and economic issues, including maritime boundary demarcation, the Mubarak al-Kabeer Port project and its potential impact on Iraq’s al-Faw Grand Port, missing Kuwaiti people and property from the 1990 invasion, and broader regional security cooperation.
The Iraqi prime minister’s agenda in Bahrain is expected to address regional de-escalation, security, strategies to open new economic and investment avenues, and concerns regarding Bahrain’s Shiite community.
As part of the Iraqi government’s effort to foster regional economic integration, handle cross-border security issues, and foster confidence, al-Zaidi has made recent regional visits to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, and Iran.
