Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on Tuesday to discuss prospects for political, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Zaidi is expected to hold discussions with representatives of 30 German companies to discuss investment opportunities and economic cooperation between Iraq and Germany, according to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The corporations participating in the discussion, which will address cooperation and investment partnerships between the two sides, expressed a strong desire to invest in Iraq.

The Iraqi prime minister’s discussions in Berlin will include finalizing several memoranda of understanding in the economic and investment sectors, strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

Al-Zaidi’s visit to Germany comes a day after he concluded a trip to the French capital, Paris, where he and President Emmanuel Macron oversaw the signing of six memoranda of understanding covering air defense, military supply, energy supplies, civil aviation, development finance, and youth and innovation support.

Al-Zaidi’s visit to Germany is a significant step in the Iraqi government’s efforts to strengthen commercial ties with other nations and multinational enterprises.

The visit aims to attract foreign investment and utilize German expertise and technology to support Iraq’s economic development.
