Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Former Director General of Iraq’s Federal Board of Supreme Audit Shaimaa Abbas Huwairf has been appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), making her the bank’s first woman in history to hold this position.
Her selection represents an important step for diversity in Iraq’s main economic and financial governance institution.
Huwairf’s previous expertise brings thorough budgetary monitoring and auditing experience to her current post.
The newly appointed CBI deputy governor joins the executive leadership team alongside Nizar Nasser Hussein, the recently appointed CBI governor, at a time of increased fiscal responsibility oversight, auditing transparency, and banking industry improvements.
Given her extensive experience in advanced financial inspections, her managerial position is likely to prioritize enhancing institutional oversight mechanisms and transparency methods in commercial banking institutions.
Huwairf is also expected to contribute to national budgetary policies that would strengthen the value of the national currency and improve central financial operations.
