Ghostly Kisses adds second Baghdad concert after first show sells out within hours

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Ghostly Kisses, a French-Canadian dream-pop duet, has added a second performance in Baghdad after the first sold out within hours of pre-sale, demonstrating Iraq’s tremendous desire for foreign live music.

Ghostly Kisses stated on X that the extra Baghdad show will take place on December 12, one day after the initial Dec. 11 event.

“Baghdad 🖤 due to incredible demand, we are adding a second show on Dec. 12,” the pair announced. Tickets for the extra date will go on sale on Friday, Oct. 2.

The news follows a previous post in which Ghostly Kisses said that their December 11 Baghdad show sold out in only a few hours during pre-sale, before regular ticket sales started.

The musicians said they had not anticipated the demand and were planning to add another concert in response.

The Baghdad performances are part of the Ghostly Kisses MENA Tour 2026, which also stops in Amman, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, and Kuwait City.

The journey will begin in Amman on November 26 and conclude in Baghdad in December.

Ghostly Kisses, a Quebec City-based duo consisting of vocalist Margaux Sauvé and composer and producer Louis-Étienne Santais, is recognized for its atmospheric sound, which combines dream-pop, techno, and cinematic elements.

The decision to stage two concerts in Baghdad is significant for Iraq’s burgeoning entertainment and cultural landscape.

Major worldwide tours have generally avoided Iraq, especially during the years of warfare and instability that followed the 2003 invasion and subsequent struggle against ISIS.

Baghdad’s improved security has provided more room for foreign cultural events, concerts, and entertainment, while the Iraqi city has witnessed increased investment in hotels, restaurants, retail malls, and other leisure ventures.

The inaugural Ghostly Kisses performance sold out quickly, demonstrating local interest for such events.

Baghdad joined established regional entertainment venues like Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Cairo on the group’s Middle East and North Africa tour.

For Iraq, the concerts have importance beyond the acts themselves. International musicians willing to include Baghdad on regional tours are unusual, but successful events may inspire other performers and promoters to explore the Iraqi market.

Two consecutive Ghostly Kisses performances in December will therefore represent another step in Baghdad’s gradual return to the international touring circuit, reflecting a city that is growing safer and more welcoming to foreign cultural and entertainment activities.
