Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Three drones targeted the Azadi camp, a facility affiliated with the opposition Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) in the Koya district southeast of Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq early on Monday.

According to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) security agency, Asayish, the attacks took place in two waves between 1:40 and 2:10 a.m. local time.

The attack damaged the facility but resulted in no casualties.

Local Kurdish media, citing anonymous PDKI sources, claimed that the drones used in the attack were Iranian-made “Hadid” versions.

According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated media agencies, the attacks targeted separatist organizations in the region.

Officials in Iraqi Kurdistan warned that the camp, which has housed displaced Iranian Kurds and the families of the party’s Peshmerga forces for over 25 years, has come under fire several times amid rising regional tensions.

The attack is the latest in a series of drone and missile strikes against Iranian Kurdish dissident sites in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
