The initiation was extended to Amir Khan Muttaqi, the foreign minister of the Taliban interim government, in a meeting with Iran’s special envoy for Afghanistan in Kabul.

During the meeting, Mohammad Reza Bahrami, who is the head of the Asian Affairs Department at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, conveyed Tehran’s invitation to the Taliban foreign minister and underscored the importance of relations with Kabul. He also called for Afghanistan to play an active role in regional cooperation.

Both sides emphasized the expansion of bilateral interactions and the strengthening of regional cooperation.
