Save the Children and Hyundai Motor Launch Hyundai Universal Solution: Electric Bus for STEM Education to Jakarta Junior High School Students – ObserverID

Jakarta, IO – Collaborating with Save the Children, Hyundai Motor Company, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), and local partner New Future Indonesia, have officially launched the Hyundai Universal Solution project. The project introduces an innovative mobile learning space aboard an electric bus, intending to improve access to and the quality of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for junior high school students in Jakarta.

Data from the 2025 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) shows that only around 36.8% of  15-year-old students in Indonesia achieved at least the minimum proficiency level in science. In mathematics, the figure was even lower, at just 16.9%. The gap is even wider among students from disadvantaged families, who lag significantly behind their peers.

To address these challenges, the 12-month project, running from October 2026 to October 2027, targets 1,300 eighth-grade students and 130 teachers, across 13 junior high schools. The mobile education approach uses an electric bus to reach schools with limited Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources.

Technology-Driven, Child-Friendly STEM Learning Innovation

Hyundai Universal Solution offers child-friendly STEM learning modules, based on a national curriculum set by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and local contexts. Focusing on STEM principles, it aims to build STEM-supportive school systems, digital safety and child protection protocols.
