Jakarta, IO – President Prabowo Subianto hosted a state luncheon for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the State Palace on Sunday. The official luncheon was part of El-Sisi’s state visit to Indonesia, serving as a key moment to bolster the longstanding bond between the two nations.
In his welcoming address, Prabowo expressed his deep appreciation for El-Sisi’s visit and highlighted the historic ties uniting Indonesia and Egypt since the former’s struggle for independence.
“I extend my highest gratitude for Your Excellency’s visit. The relationship between Indonesia and Egypt dates back a very long time. Indonesia will never forget that Egypt was the first nation to recognize our independence, support our liberation struggle, and join us in founding the Non-Aligned Movement,” said Prabowo.
He went on to underscore the visit as a major milestone for bilateral relations, noting that their high-level talks yielded substantive discussions and crucial agreements aimed at deepening partnership across sectors.
“Your Excellency’s visit is therefore of immense importance. In our bilateral meeting earlier, we discussed crucial issues and reached key agreements,” added Prabowo.
Responding to the welcome, El-Sisi conveyed his gratitude for the warm hospitality offered by Prabowo and the Indonesian government throughout his visit. He reaffirmed both countries’ determination to advance bilateral cooperation on the back of the newly forged agreements.

“On this occasion, we have reached several joint agreements between Indonesia and Egypt—reflecting a strong partnership between our two nations. I wish to express my sincere thanks to Your Excellency. Thank you very much for such a warm welcome. May God protect Your Excellency’s nation,” El-Sisi said.
During the event, both leaders were treated to a performance of the Zapin Lancang Kuning dance, a traditional cultural heritage from Riau that fuses Malay and Arabian artistic elements. Depicting the courage and resilience of Malay seafarers on the open seas, the dance formed a central highlight of the state reception.
The state luncheon marked the conclusion of El-Sisi’s state visit to Indonesia. The visit reaffirmed the enduring friendship anchored in a shared history while laying the groundwork for stronger future collaboration. (des)
