Jakarta, IO – Heart disease remains a major health challenge in Indonesia. According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the Ministry of Health estimates that nearly 700,000 heart attacks occur in the country each year. The figure highlights the importance of protecting heart health from an early age through risk-factor awareness, early detection, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Siloam Heart Hospital continues to expand its comprehensive cardiovascular services, covering prevention and early detection, diagnosis, intervention, surgery, and recovery. Supported by a multidisciplinary team, the hospital treats a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including arrhythmia and heart failure, and performs more than 3,000 catheterization procedures annually.
To commemorate its 20th anniversary alongside World Heart Month, Siloam Heart Hospital is hosting Heart Festival 2026, bringing together heart-health education, sports and healthy-lifestyle activities, a scientific forum, and a CSR initiative focused on managing non-infectious waste. The program is designed to make heart-health education more accessible while highlighting the hospital’s role as a cardiac referral center, from prevention to the treatment of complex conditions.
Hospital Director of Siloam Heart Hospital, dr. Karina Arifiani, MSc, said maintaining heart health requires a continuous approach, from prevention to treatment tailored to each patient’s needs. “Heart health must begin with recognizing risk factors, undergoing appropriate check-ups, and receiving an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Through the Heart Festival, we want people to better understand their heart health and identify the steps they can take based on their individual needs,” she said to media on Saturday (26/9/2026).
Various activities were featured at Heart Festival 2026, including Heart of Padel that encourages communities to stay active and Heart Care Experience provides practical information to understand cardiovascular risk factors. Meanwhile, Siloam Heart Symposium brings together experts and healthcare professionals to discuss advances in cardiovascular science and treatment.

The festival also highlights the connection between human health and environmental sustainability. The “Heart to Earth” CSR program focuses on managing non-infectious hospital waste. Together with material management partner Rezycology, Siloam Heart Hospital is working with communities, media, and other partners to reuse linen and non-infectious plastic waste and turn them into useful products.

The ongoing initiative has processed more than 1.7 tons of linen and non-infectious plastic through reuse, recycling, and upcycling, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 20 tons of CO₂e. The materials have been distributed through 50 beneficiary locations and involved 10 waste banks, 50 waste collectors, and 20 artisans. They have been transformed into products including R-PET dacron dolls, vests, pouches, and tables.
Siloam Heart Hospital CEO Putri Rachma Amalia said the Heart Festival aims to raise public awareness about heart health. “Treating heart disease requires strong medical capabilities, but maintaining heart health should begin long before someone needs hospital care. Through Heart Festival, we want to connect education, healthy living, collaboration, and cardiovascular services so that people have a better understanding of the right steps to protect their heart health based on their individual needs,” Putri said.
Now in its third year, Heart Festival is part of Siloam Heart Hospital’s ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and integrated cardiovascular care.
