Derrick Begins Professional Career in Japan’s B.LEAGUE Premier – OBSERVER

Jakarta, IO – Derrick Michael Xzavierro has decided to join the Saga Ballooners in Japan’s top-tier league, the B.LEAGUE Premier.

Derrick Michael’s journey with the Saga Ballooners marks the beginning of his professional basketball career.

Previously, this Indonesian basketball player was an NCAA Division I student-athlete with Grand Canyon University and Long Beach State University, where he competed for four years.

“This step is a significant milestone after four years as an NCAA Division I student-athlete with Grand Canyon University and Long Beach State University. After completing my undergraduate studies in May 2026, I am ready to enter a new chapter as a professional basketball player starting in August 2026,” explained Derrick.

“With gratitude and pride, I announce that I have officially joined the Saga Ballooners and will begin my professional career in the Japan B.LEAGUE Premier next season,” continued the basketball player, who was born on April 1, 2003.

“I thank the Saga Ballooners for their trust and am honored to be part of their ever-growing organization,” said Derrick, who led Indonesia to a gold medal in 5×5 basketball at the 2021 SEA Games.

“I also thank my beloved mother, coaches, teammates, and all Indonesian basketball fans for their support throughout my journey,” said Derrick.

Derrick also expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Basketball Association (PERBASI) executive board for their continued support of his basketball career, especially to PERBASI Chairman Budisatrio Djiwandono and PERBASI National Team Chairman Syailendra Bakrie.

“I express my appreciation to PERBASI Chairman Budi Satrio Djiwandono, Head of BTN Syailendra Bakrie, Coach Rifky Antolyon, and all the coaches, staff, and teammates on the Indonesian National Team for the opportunity to represent the Red and White,” explained Derrick.

“I realize this is just the beginning. I came to Japan to continue developing, competing at the highest level, and giving my best for the team and the country,” he continued.

“Above all, I am grateful to the Lord Jesus for His presence in every step of this journey,” Derrick explained.

“Thank you for all the support. This is the beginning of a new chapter that I am entering with gratitude and enthusiasm to continue giving my best,” concluded the player with the initials DMX. (rp)
