Woman killed in elephant attack in Gudalur

A 50-year-old woman was killed by a wild elephant while she and her family were returning home after fishing in a stream at Kil Nadugani in the Gudalur forest division on late Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as K. Meenakshi. In a statement to the press, the Forest Department said that Meenakshi, her husband Kumbili and another relative had gone to the Punnampuzha river to fish and were returning home when an elephant that was in a wooded area nearby attacked and killed Meenakshi.
