Secretary of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Shailesh Bagoli, along with departmental officials, inspected the Bijapur, Bandal, Kesarwala, Purkul, and Shahanshahi Heads and the damaged pipelines connected to them and directed that the drinking water supply system in the city be repaired as soon as possible.
The cloudburst disaster on September 16th disrupted the supply from these sources, affecting approximately 2.35 lakh people in areas such as D.L. Road, Karanpur, Kalidas Road, New Cantt Road, Rajpur, Chukkhuwala, Lower Raipur, Kiduwala, Purkul Village, Saloni Village, Jakhan, Vijaynagar, Dhakpatti, etc.
The Secretary directed that the supply system from the Bijapur, Bandal, and Kesarwala Heads be temporarily restored by the evening of September 17th. Departmental officials stated that approximately 1.35 lakh people would receive drinking water by the morning of September 18th, while work on the remaining sources would be completed by the evening of September 18th. After this, water supply will be ensured to the remaining 1 lakh people by the morning of 19th September.
