Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday landed at an emergency landing facility in Assam, marking a historic moment not only for the state but the entire Northeast region of India. The highway airstrip, developed on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh at a cost of nearly Rs 100 crore, has been specially designed and constructed in coordination with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to support landing and take-off of military and civil aircraft during emergencies. PM Modi’s touchdown at the ELF aboard a C-130J Super Hercules was followed by an aerial display, which involved Rafale and various other aircraft and helicopters of the IAF.
