The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rain and snowfall in the state on January 23rd. In view of this, the government has directed all implementing agencies to be put on alert.
Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman held a review meeting with all District Disaster Management Officers and officials of related departments. He said that more vigilance should be exercised in case of bad weather. In particular, the police, health, public works, electricity, drinking water, animal husbandry and municipal bodies should make necessary preparations.
In view of the possibility of road blockages due to snowfall, ensure advance deployment of JCBs, snow cutters and other necessary machinery on sensitive and high Himalayan routes. He said that sensitive roads, bridges and footpaths should be identified in all districts and additional security arrangements should be ensured there.
