Due to continuous rainfall, the mercury has dropped sharply. With the temperature recording a decline of eight degrees below normal, people have once again brought out their warm clothing. The morning rain also caused difficulties for commuters heading to offices and markets.
Meanwhile, according to the meteorological department’s forecast, light to moderate rainfall is expected in several hilly districts of the state, with a possibility of snowfall in higher-altitude regions.
Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at isolated places in the districts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, while snowfall is likely in areas situated above an altitude of 3,000 meters. Other hilly districts are expected to witness light rainfall.
In the plains, the weather is expected to remain dry for the time being, although skies may remain overcast in some areas. Issuing a warning for the hilly regions, the Meteorological Department stated that strong winds (30–40 km/h) may blow in some places, and there is also a risk of lightning strikes.
In light of this, people have been advised to remain vigilant. In Dehradun, the sky will remain partially cloudy. There is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers in certain areas. The maximum temperature is estimated to hover around 29°C, while the minimum is expected to be 14°C.
