Uttarakhand rains: Schools to remain closed in Champawat and Chamoli on September 3

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD Dehradun) has issued an orange alert for many districts on 3 September 2025 in view of the continuous rains in Uttarakhand. The department has warned that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in many districts of the state along with heavy rains, thunder and lightning.

Schools closed in these districts

In view of the possibility of continuous rain and rising water level of rivers and streams, all schools and Anganwadi centers will remain closed on September 3 in Champawat and Chamoli. This order will apply to all government, council, aided and private recognized schools running from class 1 to 12.

The district administration has appealed to the people not to go near landslide prone areas, rivers and streams.
