Prof Satyakam who has resigned as the VC of UPRTOU Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) vice-chancellor Prof Satyakam resigned from his post, with Raj Bhavan accepting his resignation on Thursday. Following the development, Prof Akhilesh Kumar, vice-chancellor of Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University, has been given the additional charge of UPRTOU vice-chancellor.Prof Akhilesh Kumar will look after the affairs of the open university until a regular vice-chancellor is appointed or further orders are issued. He assumed charge as the officiating VC on Friday.Prof Satyakam had submitted his resignation at Raj Bhavan on June 12, citing personal, family and health-related reasons. Prof Satyakam took charge as UPRTOU vice-chancellor in June 2024. Before joining the university, he was a professor at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.During his tenure, Prof Satyakam worked on various academic initiatives and matters related to the university’s administrative and educational systems. His tenure lasted a little over two years.With Prof Akhilesh Kumar taking additional charge, the university will now function under an interim arrangement until the appointment of a new vice-chancellor.
