PRAYAGRAJ: Cautioning that internal divisions might lead to Bangladesh-like situations in India, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday appealed to people to remain united, asserting that social unity was the strongest safeguard against disruptive forces.Addressing a gathering at the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj to mark the 726th birth anniversary celebrations of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Bhagwan, Yogi said that silence over alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh should serve as a warning for India. “Where are the voices of opposition on the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh? Silence is deafening. There are no candle marches or protests, as if a tape has been put on their lips,” Yogi said, stressing that divisive forces thrive when society is fragmented. He cautioned that if unity weakens, similar forces could become active within India and divide the society. Yogi said the coming era belonged to Sanatan Dharma, and only a united society could ensure that no Hindu or Dalit Hindu faced atrocities in India, as against what is happening in Bangladesh. The CM was at the camp of Jagadguru Mahamandaleshwar Santoshdas, popularly known as Satua Baba. Recalling the legacy of Ramanandacharya, Yogi said the saint may not have built institutions but shaped society through his disciples. He said that Ramanandacharya made not one but 12 disciples, and all were from different castes, as he strongly advocated for a unified society. Be it Sant Kabir, Ravidas, Swami Sukhanand, and Swami Yoganand, etc, all were from different social backgrounds and worked collectively to strengthen social unity. Taking a swipe at political parties that ruled both the state and the Centre in earlier years, Yogi said they failed to protect the country’s ‘Mool Chetna’ (central soul) and civilisational consciousness. He added that while previous govts worked for development, it was under Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya was constructed, restoring faith in the nation’s cultural heritage. He added, “Today, when opposition parties are not in power, they are raising all sorts of slogans. They will create an identity crisis, cause anarchy, attack Sanatan Dharma, and use riots to inflict suffering on everyone. We must not allow this to happen again under any circumstances.” Earlier in the day, Yogi arrived in Prayagraj and proceeded to Sangam Nose, where he performed ritual bathing and worship. Referring to the purity of the Ganga River, he said, “Here at Triveni, I am having a divine experience of bathing. I also came here and first took a dip in the Triveni and expressed my gratitude to Mother Ganga. What pure water it is! Was such pure water available 8-10 years ago? Such a divine opportunity comes only when a devotee of Lord Ram and Mother Ganga is in power.” Expressing his gratitude to the Ganga River through the Namami Gange project, he said, “Only a true son of Mother India could accomplish this, and Modi has proven it. Everyone bathing here is giving their blessings to Modi.” Later in the day, he also chaired a review meeting at the ICCC auditorium, held discussions with associates, and visited the Law University at Jhalwa before departing for Lucknow.
