Two persons arrested in Ranipet for stealing two-wheelers

Two persons were arrested by Thimiri police on Sunday for stealing two-wheelers in Vellore, Ranipet, and Tiruvannamalai districts.

The arrested persons were identified as M. Dhanasekaran, 48, and R. Arumugam, 42. They are residents of Ranipet. The police recovered 12 two-wheelers from them.

Initial inquiry revealed that the duo stole parked two-wheelers at temple festivals, hospitals, banks, markets, and government offices. Based on complaints from affected persons, Ranipet Superintendent of Police P. Sibin formed special teams to nab the duo.

The police intercepted the duo during a surprise vehicle check.   Stolen two-wheelers were kept in a godown before they were sold at cheap rates without documents.

Each stolen two-wheeler was sold at a price of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. A case was registered and later they were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
