A powerful oxygen tank blast in Jalpally on Monday left three people critically injured after twin explosions involving two oxygen tanks. The incident caused rooftops of nearby houses to collapse and created significant panic among residents. The incident occurred at Jalpally village under the limits of the Pahadishareef Police Station.
According to the fire department, two oxygen tanks exploded almost simultaneously. Due to the intensity of the explosions, surrounding structural damage was extensive. Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby private hospital. Officials have yet to confirm the exact reason behind the blast.
Station House Officer Lakshmi Narayana Reddy said the shed owners were engaged in refilling smaller cylinders for hospitals. The explosion caused parts of a mechanical shed nearby to collapse, damaging vehicles kept inside. Two workers of the mechanical shop sustained injuries along with workers from the oxygen business.
According to preliminary reports, none of the victims have life-threatening injuries. The situation is currently under investigation as authorities assess the safety of the refilling operations. Residents remain cautious while officials work to secure the site and determine the precise cause of the medical tank failures.
