Actor-politician Vijay, founder and leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), said his party’s ideology is rooted in “Secular Social Justice”, asserting that there would be “100% no compromise in communal harmony.”

Speaking at a Christmas celebration event in Mahabalipuramfun, Vijay said, “This is a wonderful and beautiful moment,” and described love and kindness as the foundation of society, comparing Tamil Nadu’s soil to “the heart of a mother, filled with love.”

He said, “Aren’t all children the same for a mother,” adding that “Christmas, Diwali and Ramzan are festivals shared by everyone in our land.”

Emphasising unity beyond differences, the TVK leader said, “Here even if the lifestyle and religion is different, aren’t we all brothers,” and explained the party’s stand on faith: “After coming into politics we declared that there is belief in God, as true faith sows good faith and respect for others’ faith.”

Referring to biblical narratives, Vijay urged people to read them, saying, “There are several stories in the Bible which talk about the strength of faith.”

He highlighted a story of a youth betrayed by his own brothers, saying they “out of jealousy threw him into a well,” but he later “recovered and became the King of the Country,” protecting both his brothers and the nation. “I don’t think I need to say who that specific story is about. You all know very well,” he said.

Vijay said such stories show that “if you have God’s blessings, people’s love and strength, you can win any kind of battle, war or an enemy.” He reiterated, “I assure in this function that we will be 100% strong in protecting communal harmony. There will be no compromise with it,” adding that this commitment was the reason “our ideology was named Secular Social Justice.”
