Agartala: Polling for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections will be held today (April 12), with 173 candidates contesting across 28 constituencies, an election official said.
Secretary of the Election Commission for the district council polls, Anurag Sen, said the dispatch of polling personnel began on Saturday morning, and teams have already left for their respective polling stations.
“By the evening, all polling personnel shall reach their respective polling stations. From 7 am onwards the polling process shall be started,” he said.
A total of 9,62,547 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the elections, he said.
Sen said the authorities expect cooperation from all political parties to ensure the peaceful conduct of the electoral process. “We are expecting that all the political parties shall co-operate with us to ensure that the entire electoral process passes off peacefully,” he added.
On security arrangements, he said the state police and Tripura State Rifles have undertaken multiple measures, including regular flag marches and patrolling in sensitive areas.
A total of 24 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have also reached the state for poll duty, he said, adding that they will be deployed based on assessments and requirements identified by the police.
“We hope the security arrangements made ahead of the polls are sufficient,” Sen said.
The elections to the TTAADC are being held amid multi-cornered contests, with administrative and security agencies focusing on ensuring smooth polling across remote and sensitive areas.

TTAADC polls will be held on April 12, 2026.
Returning Officers (ROs) have been dispatching polling personnel since Saturday morning, and the personnel have left for their respective polling stations.

A total of 24 CAPF troopers have also reached Tripura for poll duty. They will be deployed in areas based on requirements and assessments made by the police department. We hope the security arrangements made ahead of the polls are sufficient.
