Tripura CM reviews progress of health department’s MoU with AIIMS New Delhi

Agartala: Chief Minister and Health and Family Welfare Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday reviewed the Action Taken Report on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Tripura government and AIIMS, New Delhi, during a video conference with senior officials of the premier medical institution.

The review meeting was held with AIIMS Director M. Srinivas and other concerned officials to assess the progress made since the MoU was signed on October 17, 2025, officials of the state Health and Family Welfare Department said.

According to the department, the Action Taken Report, prepared and presented on January 28, 2026, outlines a series of administrative, academic, and infrastructural measures initiated under the agreement.

As part of the MoU, steps have been taken towards establishing a health university in the state, strengthening the institutional workforce, enhancing financial autonomy, and improving IT-enabled systems. Several of these measures are at different stages of implementation.

Officials said the recruitment of health personnel is being carried out in accordance with existing government rules through the Health Directorate and the Tripura Public Service Commission.

In the area of human resource development, coordination with AIIMS has begun for faculty development programmes, training initiatives, and skill upgradation.

On medical education and academic advancement, the report notes the introduction of new departments, the launch of skill development courses, amendments to service rules, and training of medical professionals at AIIMS to improve academic standards.

Hospital services and infrastructure development are also being addressed, with initiatives covering emergency services, expansion of intensive care units, operationalisation of operation theatres, induction of modern equipment through the PPP model, and strengthening of supply chain management.

Digital initiatives and patient feedback mechanisms were also reviewed. While the ‘Mera Aspataal’ application is already in use, coordination is underway to adopt AIIMS’ ‘Santusht’ app to enhance patient feedback collection and service quality.

Senior officials present at the review included Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education H.P. Sharma, Joint Director of Health Services Rajesh Anil Acharya, AGMC and GBP Hospital Medical Superintendent Bidhan Goswami, and AGMC Principal Tapan Majumdar.
