TMC leader Kunal Ghosh granted bail in 2021 case by Gomati court

Reported by : Mrinal Banik

Agartala: A court in Tripura on Monday granted bail to Kunal Ghosh, senior leader of the All India Trinamool Congress and newly elected MLA in West Bengal, in connection with a case registered against him in 2021.

The bail order was issued by the Gomati district and sessions court.

After the hearing, Ghosh briefly told reporters that the court had accepted his bail application in the case filed against him.

According to his lawyer, the matter stems from a public gathering addressed by Ghosh in Agartala on October 31, 2021.

The complaint alleged that a section of his speech had offended religious sentiments, leading to the registration of the case.

His counsel further stated that the police had subsequently submitted a charge sheet after completing the investigation and trial proceedings in the matter had already begun.

The prosecution did not issue any immediate response following the court’s decision.
