Tezpur Uni releases books on education reform, cultural heritage

Guwahati: Tezpur University (TU) in Assam, on Wednesday released three books authored by its faculty and students, focusing on primary education, inclusive learning, and Northeast India’s cultural heritage.

The publications were formally launched by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh at a university event attended by senior officials and academics.

Two of the books centre on the education sector. “Accelerating Outcome-Based Primary Education – Role of Policymakers and Community” and “Inclusive Education – Evaluating Support Systems and Learning Aids for Children with Special Needs” were co-authored by Prof. Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar, Director of International Affairs; Prof. Papori Baruah, Chief Proctor; and Abdul Latif Hazarika.

The first book explores policy and community strategies to improve learning outcomes at the primary level, while the second analyses the infrastructure and human resources necessary to support inclusive education, particularly for children with special needs.

The third publication, “Treasures of Time: A Curated Collection of Cultural Artifacts,” authored by Dr. Juri Gogoi Konwar, Head of the Department of Cultural Studies, and Dr. Subhra Devi, Assistant Curator, documents select artifacts from the university’s museum.

The book presents a visual and narrative archive of Northeast India’s diverse cultural heritage and is the result of a summer internship project by six students: Anwesha Gogoi, Bibek Pratim Bora, Chinmoy Saharia, Sonia A Hazarika, Pinkey Gogoi, and Jitu Deuri.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Singh commended the authors and contributors, noting that the books reflect Tezpur University’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and meaningful research.

The launch was attended by senior university officials, including Prof. Manabendra Mandal, Dean of Students’ Welfare; Prof. Suvendra Kumar Ray; Prof. R.R. Hoque, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Prof. Debarshi Prasad Nath.
