Telangana Health Minister Felicitates The Blood Warriors and Young Volunteer Samarth Lamba on World Thalassaemia Day

Hyderabad, May 8: On World Thalassaemia Day, Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha felicitated The Blood Warriors and young volunteer Samarth Lamba for their work in supporting thalassaemia patients and spreading awareness about the disorder.

The Blood Warriors team, represented by Krishna Vamshi, Sandeep Kavety, and other members, was recognised for its continued efforts to support families affected by thalassaemia. The organisation has been working on the ground to connect patients with regular blood donors, encourage early testing, and create awareness among schools, colleges, corporates, and community groups.

For patients living with thalassaemia major, regular blood transfusions are not optional; they are essential for survival. The Blood Warriors have been addressing this need by building reliable donor networks, organising blood donation drives, and promoting blood bridge initiatives, where groups of donors come together to support individual patients on a recurring basis.

The organisation’s work goes beyond arranging blood. It also focuses on reducing stigma, educating families, encouraging preventive screening, and bringing more volunteers into the movement. Their efforts have helped make thalassaemia a wider public health conversation rather than a silent struggle faced by families alone.

Samarth Lamba was also felicitated for his contribution through Hb CARE, a youth-led initiative that works closely with The Blood Warriors. Through the initiative, he has helped take the message of thalassaemia awareness to students, runners’ groups, public events, and young volunteers.

Hb CARE has supported these efforts through community sessions and youth outreach. The initiative has helped educate more than 2,100 people, supported over 100 blood donations, and enabled more than 160 individuals to undergo free thalassaemia testing.

The felicitation also brought attention to a larger message: thalassaemia can be better managed, and new cases can be reduced, when more people come forward for testing and awareness. The occasion served as a call to citizens, schools, colleges, corporates, and volunteers to join the cause.

On World Thalassaemia Day, the recognition of The Blood Warriors and Samarth Lamba was not just a moment of appreciation, but a reminder that sustained community action can bring hope to families living with thalassaemia.
