In a major administrative reform to improve governance and accelerate policy implementation, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided that the Telangana cabinet will convene twice a month going forward.
Cabinet meetings will now be held every 15 days, specifically on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The Chief Minister instructed officials to make necessary arrangements to ensure regular and structured cabinet sessions, allowing for continuous monitoring and timely decision-making on key issues.
Chief Minister’s Office calls it a “progressive step” that would ensure greater accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the functioning of the State government.
This marks a clear departure from the earlier practice of holding cabinet meetings once every two to three months. “To avoid delays in critical policy decisions and to ensure dynamic governance, the Chief Minister has instituted a bi-monthly cabinet schedule,” an official said.
The Chief Minister is of the view that frequent cabinet meetings would allow ministers to engage in ongoing reviews and make necessary corrections and interventions in real-time. The decision also reflects the government’s focus on field-level evaluation of welfare schemes and development projects.
Since the Congress-led government assumed office, 17 cabinet meetings have already been conducted. Officials noted that the new schedule would also help align the government machinery with the evolving needs of various sectors, including agriculture, health, education and infrastructure.
