The Hindu’s Made of Chennai initiative brought youthful energy to SRM Institute of Science and Technology with the “Namma Chennai SRM Celebration,” held at Vendhar Square, Kattankulathur. The evening saw more than 3,000 students gather for a vibrant mix of art, music, and dance, turning the campus into a festive hub.

The celebrations kicked off with a live painting contest under the theme “My Chennai, My Pride.” Students showcased their creativity on canvas. Winners walked away with exclusive merchandise. The stage then came alive with spirited performances in dance, beatboxing, poetry, and singing, each act adding to the buzz of the evening.

One of the highlights was the band from “On The Streets of Chennai”, which drew crowds with energetic tunes and spontaneous rhythms, giving students the feel of a true city street performance. The event culminated in a high-voltage DJ session by DJ Lash, leaving the crowd dancing into the night.

A gang of second year students said every part of the celebration gave a chance to showcase their talent and enjoy themselves with their friends.

T. Anbalagan, who is not from the city, said, “This was one of the most memorable evenings of the semester. It felt like the whole of Chennai’s culture came alive on our campus.”

The Hindu Made of Chennai is presented by Casagrand and powered by SRM.
