Stone carving quality on Bade Hanuman temple corridor pillars under scrutiny, contractor pulled up | Prayagraj News

The Bade Hanuman temple corridor was inspected by the divisional commissioner Dr Lokesh M, on Wednesday Prayagraj: The quality of stone carving on pillars being built as part of the Bade Hanuman temple corridor has come under scrutiny, with the ongoing work found lacking in finish and workmanship during an inspection of the project. The contractor was pulled up and told that payment would be released only after the prescribed quality and finishing standards were met.The corridor, being developed by the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA), was reviewed in detail during an inspection undertaken by divisional commissioner Dr Lokesh M in the presence of the PDA vice-chairperson and other officials, with the project map and design examined and the progress of different components assessed.Particular attention was paid to the red sandstone pillars being constructed along the corridor. The carving work on the pillars was found to have deficiencies in both quality and finishing. The contractor was directed to rectify the shortcomings and ensure that the final work meets the specified standards. Officials were also instructed not to clear payment for the work until the required quality and complete finishing had been achieved. The inspection also focused on a recurring concern around the corridor — waterlogging during the monsoon. Officials were directed to incorporate adequate drainage and other necessary arrangements across the corridor, keeping in mind the possibility of water accumulation every year. The aim is to ensure that devotees and visitors do not face inconvenience, particularly during monsoon.Work related to the expansion of the pilgrim accommodation facility was also reviewed. Officials were instructed to ensure that the parapet being constructed as part of the expansion matches the design and appearance of parapets in other sections of the corridor. The emphasis on uniformity is significant for the project as the corridor is being developed as an integrated stretch around the temple. Officials were asked to maintain consistency in design elements while executing different components of the project.
