Stock market update: Sensex closes up over 1300 points; Nifty also buoyant by global cues

Following US President Donald Trump’s statement on Monday evening, the domestic market witnessed a strong recovery on 24 March 2026. Trump had stated that the US would not attack Iran for the next five days. Following Trump’s statement, the stock market recorded a rise of approximately 2 percent on Tuesday. The BSE Sensex gained 1,372.06 points (1.89 percent) to close at 74,068.45. The NSE Nifty 50 index also rose 399.75 points (1.78 percent) to close at 22,957.80. It should be noted that on Monday, the Sensex had fallen 1,836.57 points (2.46 percent) to close at 72,696.39, and the Nifty had fallen 601.85 points (2.60 percent) to close at 22,512.65.

Shares of 29 out of 30 Sensex companies closed in the green.

On Tuesday, shares of 29 out of 30 Sensex companies closed in the green with gains, while only one company closed in the red with a decline. Similarly, shares of 45 out of 50 Nifty 50 companies closed in the green with gains, while the remaining five companies closed in the red with losses. Among Sensex companies, Indigo’s stock closed with the highest gain of 5.41 percent today, while Power Grid’s stock closed with the highest loss of 1.03 percent.

These stocks saw strong gains.

Among other Sensex companies, L&T shares rose 5.33 percent, Eternal 4.94 percent, Asian Paints 4.77 percent, Bajaj Finance 4.69 percent, UltraTech Cement 4.15 percent, Tech Mahindra 3.48 percent, Adani Ports 3.16 percent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 3.09 percent, HDFC Bank 2.88 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra 2.57 percent, ICICI Bank 2.36 percent, Bajaj Finserv 2.30 percent, BEL 2.29 percent, Axis Bank 1.99 percent, Tata Steel 1.95 percent, Hindustan Unilever 1.77 percent, Infosys 1.60 percent, HCL Tech 1.39 percent, Titan 1.33 percent, Maruti Suzuki 1.18 percent, ITC 0.71 percent, and TCS 0.67 percent. Shares of NTPC closed with gains of 0.66 percent, SBI 0.61 percent, Bharti Airtel 0.41 percent, Trent 0.33 percent, Reliance Industries 0.30 percent and Sun Pharma 0.03 percent.
