In a mouthwatering clash between the two hot favourites, Barcelona face off against Paris Saint-Germain at the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 on Wednesday night, October 1.

Title-holders PSG will take on last year’s semifinalists at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Barcelona. Both teams are heading into the intense clash with confidence and momentum behind them after winning their opening games.

While Barca came out triumphant against Newcastle United by a margin of 2-1, PSG played like the reigning champions against Atalanta, defeating them 4-0 in their opener. For Barcelona, Marcus Rashford’s heroics provided them with an early confidence booster and Luis Enrique’s PSG outfit flexed their form after finding four different players for the scoresheet.

Unfortunately for the two teams, they will be missing a host of their key players in a matchup that will now be about testing their depth. Hansi Flick’s Barca side will be missing Fermin Lopez, Gavi, Joan Garcia and Raphinha with their respective injuries. Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will be another major absentee, but fans can expect Alejandro Balde to make a comeback.

For PSG, Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele has been sidelined with a hamstring issue. He will be joined by Desire Doue, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz and Marquinhos in the list of injury-forced absentees.
