Guwahati: Budget airline SpiceJet announced on Friday its first-ever flights to Imphal, the capital of Manipur.
Starting February 10, the airline will operate daily flights to Imphal from Kolkata, Guwahati, and Mumbai using Boeing 737 aircraft.
The move addresses Manipur’s currently limited direct air connections with major Indian cities. While passengers from Kolkata and Guwahati will fly direct, those traveling from Mumbai will have a “single-aircraft” journey; a short halt in Kolkata allows them to reach Imphal without changing planes.
These new services aim to provide more dependable travel for business and leisure passengers alike. By increasing capacity on these routes, SpiceJet expects to improve access for residents, students, medical travelers, and government officials.
Beyond the primary routes, the schedule enables onward connections to several domestic and international destinations via SpiceJet’s wider network.
SpiceJet Chief Business Officer Debojo Maharshi described the launch as a key step in strengthening the airline’s presence in the eastern region.
He noted that the airline remains committed to simplifying travel to Manipur for passengers flying from major hubs across the country.
