Hyderabad: South Indian Cultural Association, a well-known cultural organization from twin cities, organised a memorial concert in remembrance of noted social scientist Dr Radha Chakravarty and VS Meenakshi, daughter of late Sir Alladi Krishna Swamy, one of the primary architects of the Indian Constitution.
The event featured a Carnatic vocal concert by Sikkil C Gurucharan of Chennai accompanied on violin by VSP Gayatri Sivani, Dr DSR Murthy on mrudangam and M Chandrakanth on ghatam. Thanbura support was provided by Sri Sheik Khaja Imdad.
The second part of the concert began with ‘Chandra Chooda Siva Sankara’, a kruthi of Purandaradasa in Sindhubairavi, followed by ‘Om Shambho Siva Shambho, a revathi raga composition by Swamy Dayananda Saraswathi, and concluded by a Thillana.
The artistes were later honoured by S Gopalakrishnan Vice Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Senior office-bearers of SICA including its president Dr S Chakravarty, IAS (Retd); secretary S Ranganadhan and others were present.
Dr Radha Chakravarty served in CSIR as a social scientist while VS Meenakshi is the wife of late VM Subramanyan, a senior UNO official. Her sons VS Ravi, IPS (Retd) former DGP, and Dr VS Ramachandran, created an endowment in honour of their mother.
