Repoll ordered at two TTAADC booths over irregularities

Agartala: The State Election Commission has ordered repolling at two polling stations under the 10-Kulai-Champhahour (ST) constituency of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, following reports of irregularities during voting.

According to an official press release issued by the Commission, the decision pertains to polling stations at 3-Bhatimaydan SB School and 17-Ramdeb Thakur Para. The Commission took note of certain incidents that allegedly took place during the polling process at these locations.

Reports submitted by the District Election Officer, the Returning Officer and other officials engaged in the electoral process highlighted procedural lapses and irregularities, prompting the Commission to take action. Based on these findings, the State Election Commissioner declared the polling process at the affected booths as void.

Fresh polling will now be conducted at the two stations on April 16, 2026, between 7 am and 4 pm, the release stated.

The Commission said all necessary arrangements would be made to ensure that the repoll is conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Adequate security personnel will be deployed at the polling stations to prevent any untoward incidents and to maintain law and order during the voting process.

Reiterating its commitment to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, the Commission appealed to all political parties, candidates, voters and other stakeholders to extend full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the repoll.

The TTAADC elections, which are crucial for local self-governance in tribal areas of the state, have witnessed high voter participation, although isolated incidents have been reported from certain pockets.
