Registrations open for Kailash Yatra 2026

Preparations for the holy Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage have begun. Registration for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 commenced today, April 30. The deadline for applications is May 19. The Pithoragarh administration has also intensified its preparations for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. Once again, the pilgrimage will be conducted via two routes: the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand and the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. A total of 500 pilgrims will embark on the Kailash Mansarovar journey from each of these two passes, organized into 10 batches of 50 individuals each.

The district administration has initiated preparations for managing the pilgrimage operations from the Lipulekh Pass in Pithoragarh—a border district in Uttarakhand. A consensus regarding this was reached during a meeting held in Delhi on April 27, attended by representatives from the Ministry of External Affairs, KMVN, and the ITBP. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Dharchula, representing the Pithoragarh district, also participated in this meeting.

Where to Register

Devotees interested in undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage must first register by visiting the Ministry of External Affairs’ website: https://kmy.gov.in. After creating a new account, applicants are required to fill in their personal details and passport information in the application form. Additionally, a scanned copy of the passport, a photograph, and other necessary documents must be uploaded before submitting the form. Once these steps are completed, the application process is considered finished.

Selection of Pilgrims via a Computerized Draw

Upon the completion of the application process, the applications undergo verification, and pilgrims are selected through a computerized draw. This process involves absolutely no manual intervention. Selected candidates are notified via SMS and email, following which they become eligible to proceed with the subsequent stages of the pilgrimage process.

Pilgrims selected through the lottery are required to undergo a medical examination in Delhi. A team comprising ITBP personnel and medical specialists conducts these health checks; the final confirmation for the pilgrimage is granted only after the pilgrim is declared medically fit and has deposited the prescribed fees.
