Rajasthan Additional District Judge’s wife Usha Chauhan found dead in train washroom in Ratlam, suspected heart attack

The wife of an Additional District Judge was found dead inside a train washroom in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district, prompting an investigation by railway police. Authorities suspected that she may have died of a heart attack.

Usha Chauhan, the wife of Additional District Judge Rajkumar Chauhan, was travelling on the Kanchiguda–Bhagat Kothi Express when the incident occurred.

Judge Chauhan is currently posted in Nimbahera in Rajasthan and was travelling from Jodhpur to Nimbahera with his wife.

According to officials, the couple had reserved seats in separate coaches during the journey.

Before the train reached Nimbahera station, Usha Chauhan informed her husband over the phone that she was heading to the washroom.

When the train arrived at Nimbahera, Judge Chauhan got down and waited for his wife to join him, but she did not return.

Concerned about her whereabouts, he searched for her but was unable to locate her on the platform or inside the coach.

He subsequently alerted the railway police, who initiated a search operation.

Acting on the complaint, officials halted the train at Mandsaur station to check the coaches. However, Usha Chauhan was not found during the initial search.

Railway authorities then traced the location of her mobile phone, which indicated that the device was still inside the train.

Based on this information, officials continued their search as the train proceeded toward Ratlam district.

The search eventually led police to a washroom in the reserved coach at Jaora station.

The toilet door was locked from the inside, prompting officials to break it open.

Inside, Usha Chauhan was found unconscious. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors, however, declared her dead upon examination.

Preliminary assessments suggest that she may have suffered a heart attack, although authorities have said further verification will follow standard procedures.

After completing formalities, the body was handed over to the family. Railway police have begun an inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
