Rainbow theme to highlight spiritual significance of ‘seven’ | Prayagraj News

Prayagraj: Claiming that balancing all seven energy chakras of the human body is crucial part of the journey towards spiritualism, personal development, higher consciousness, and liberation, the Magh Mela authorities have included Saptanka (centered on the spiritual number seven) in the mela’s planning, decoration and settlement. The proposal submitted by the mela administration to the govt includes the use of seven colours from the rainbow to give each sector (mela has 7 sectors) a distinct identity. Separate welcome gates for each sector are also proposed, according to their respective colours. Moreover, a 3ft wide demarcation strip is proposed on the boundary wall of each sector. This strip will feature the emblem of the Uttar Pradesh govt and the Magh Mela. This will help the public easily identify the various sectors and their main roads. The mela administration points out that this will promote uniformity and harmony in the Magh Mela’s design elements. The seven entrance gates will be decorated with rainbow colours representing the seven energy cycles. Each pontoon bridge will be equipped with a canopy, taking into account structural safety. This canopy will make the bridges extremely attractive due to its clear visibility from all sides. LED flags, along with religious symbols matching the bridge colours, will be installed on the light poles on the pontoon bridges. These will enhance the appearance of these bridges. The boats will also reflect this new approach. Seven-colour umbrellas will be installed on the boats. These umbrellas will be equipped with battery-operated LED lights. The fair’s branding will be displayed on these umbrellas. The decorated umbrellas will make the fair extremely attractive, as their presence on the river is the most visible. Acharya Hari Krishna Shukla, an expert on Indian philosophy, spirituality, and astrology, explains that seven is a highly sacred and spiritual number in Hinduism, symbolically representing various divine concepts and philosophies of Sanatan Dharma and culture. The seven energy centres in the body, the seven musical notes, the seven primary planets in the universe (excluding the two shadow planets Rahu and Ketu), the seven colours of the rainbow, the seven sages among the Saptarishis, and the seven resolutions for the perfection of life all centre on this concept.
