Arriving in Uttarakhand after nearly four years, Congress’s top leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will today sound the bugle for the 2027 elections. On Thursday—the first day of his two-day visit—he will address a public rally in Almora and interact with ex-servicemen at a veterans’ conference in Pauri.
The state Congress unit has completed all preparations for Rahul Gandhi’s visit. On June 4, Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Pantnagar Airport. From there, he will travel by helicopter to Almora, where he is scheduled to address a public rally at 11:00 AM.
Subsequently, he will travel from Almora to Pauri. There, he will engage in interactions at the veterans’ conference. Rahul Gandhi is expected to launch a political offensive against the BJP by highlighting issues such as the Agnipath scheme, ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP), ECHS, and the move to bring ex-servicemen’s pensions under the ambit of income tax, among other concerns. He may also visit Ankita Bhandari’s home and Mohammad Deepak’s gym in Kotdwar; however, the party has not officially made these specific engagements public.
