The government has released the calendar of public holidays for the year 2026. The government has declared a total of 28 public holidays. However, only 25 public holidays will be allowed in offices including the Secretariat and the Legislative Assembly, where the five-day week is applicable. This time, two holidays are falling on Sundays and two on Saturdays. Only 23 holidays will be allowed in banks and treasuries.
In the information issued by the General Administration Department for public holidays, it has been clarified that the District Magistrate can declare three holidays in a year on days of local importance. The Secretariat and the Legislative Assembly will remain open on local holidays.
