The district was the second hottest in the state on Friday, behind Banda, which recorded a maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius.The high temperatures, coupled with humidity, made outdoor conditions extremely uncomfortable for residents throughout most of the day.However, the weather took a dramatic turn by early evening when dense clouds began gathering over the city. Strong easterly winds swept across several areas, bringing down temperatures and reducing humidity levels.Some parts of the city also witnessed scanty rainfall, although the showers were brief and localised. Nevertheless, the combination of cloud cover, winds and light rain provided much-needed respite from the oppressive heat. Residents were seen stepping outdoors in the evening after days of sweltering conditions.IMD had earlier indicated the possibility of rain and gusty winds in parts of the district.The reduction in humidity was particularly noticeable, as the sticky and uncomfortable conditions that prevailed during the day eased considerably by nightfall.With pre-monsoon activity gradually increasing over eastern Uttar Pradesh, residents are now hoping for more widespread rainfall in the coming days.
