Hyderabad: As many as 82,547 students were awarded their degrees, including UG, PG and PhD, during the XIV convocation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad held here on Saturday. In addition, 71 gold medals were presented to meritorious students.

Of the graduating students, 26,501 achieved distinction, of which women students constituted 68 percent. Also, 59 out of the 71 gold medal recipients were women students, and 65,274 students were from BTech disciplines.

Aurobindo Pharma Limited director Mettu Madan Mohan Reddy, who was conferred the Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa), said in his address that science is accelerating faster than ever before through AI-enabled discovery, predictive genomics, advanced biologics, cell and gene therapies, and digital patient ecosystems.

He said India has long been recognised as the “pharmacy hub of the world”, providing affordable medicines to billions across national boundaries, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

JNTU Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Prof. T Kishen Kumar Reddy outlined the university’s R25 curriculum, which aligns with emerging demands in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity and blockchain, while also supporting ‘Transforming Higher Education in Telangana: Vision 2047’.
