Prayagraj: The city is gearing up for grand Dev Deepawali celebration on Nov 5, when over 1 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) will illuminate the sacred banks of the Sangam. The event, symbolising divine light and devotion, will also feature a series of cultural programmes, artistic displays and laser shows, transforming the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers into a spectacle of beauty and spirituality. District magistrate Manish Kumar Verma chaired a review meeting on Tuesday at the Sangam auditorium to finalise the preparations. During the meeting, he assigned responsibilities to departments and instructed officials to ensure flawless execution of the event. Verma emphasised maintaining discipline and coordination among all involved agencies, including the district administration, civil defence, NCC and volunteers. To ensure safety and organisation, the city has been divided into sectors for the systematic lighting of diyas. The health department has been directed to deploy ambulances and ensure medical readiness. Proper signage, parking management and crowd control plans are being implemented. The electricity department has been asked to ensure uninterrupted lighting and follow all safety standards while the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) and Mela Authority will arrange for generators. The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has been instructed to maintain cleanliness, provide water tankers and set up mobile toilets. Additionally, lighting and decorations will enhance the beauty of major crossroads and bridges. A laser show at Kali Ghat, sand art installations and selfie points will further add glamour to the celebrations. The DM has instructed the authorities to prepare a proper parking plan to ensure organised arrangements during the festival. He also directed the deployment of women police personnel and fire safety officials to ensure a secure environment for devotees and tourists. Senior officers, including DCP (City) Manish Kumar Shandilya, ADM (City) Satyam Mishra, and ADM (Finance & Revenue) Vinita Singh, attended the meeting. “We have to ensure that no common man of Prayagraj faces any inconvenience while participating in the celebrations for which we will not leave any stone unturned to put the best of the facilities in place,” the DM said.
