One lakh Indiramma houses by March-end: Ponguleti

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the state government aims to complete one lakh Indiramma houses by the end of March as part of its efforts to ensure housing for the poor.

The minister made the statement while visiting Kamepalli mandal in Khammam district along with local MLA Koram Kanakaiah, where he laid foundation stones for multiple development works worth ₹12.48 crore. He also inaugurated completed double-bedroom houses and handed over house pattas to beneficiaries.

Addressing a public meeting after handing over houses that had been left incomplete by the previous government in Mucharla and Pinjarimadugu villages, the minister alleged that the previous government could not construct even one lakh houses across the state during its ten-year tenure and accused it of misleading the poor in the name of double-bedroom housing schemes.

Mr. Ponguleti said the present government sanctioned 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses within its first year in power and that construction work is progressing at a rapid pace. He announced that one lakh houses would be completed and ready for housewarming ceremonies by the end of March.

The minister further stated that a second phase of Indiramma housing would be sanctioned in April and assured that every eligible poor family would be provided with a house.
