The National Skiing Championship and Winter Carnival 2026 has kicked off in grand style in Auli, the world-famous snow sports destination. Teams from 17 states, along with the ITBP, CRPF, and the Army, are participating in this national championship. The national skiing competition began with the women’s Giant Slalom race. On the first day, the Himachal Pradesh team performed well in the Giant Slalom competition.
Himachal Pradesh Dominates
The women’s Giant Slalom competition was held today, with a total of 18 participants. Aanchal Thakur secured first place, followed by Sandhya and Tanuja Thakur. Significantly, all three winners are from Himachal Pradesh.
Auli Winter Carnival Begins
Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj inaugurated the Auli National Skiing Championship and Winter Carnival 2026. He stated that Uttarakhand is being established as a world-class winter tourism destination. Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is a unique confluence of natural beauty, spiritual consciousness, and adventure possibilities.
Located at an altitude of approximately 2,500 to 3,050 meters above sea level, Auli has become a major winter destination in India, thanks to its wide natural slopes, oak and pine forests, and breathtaking views of Himalayan peaks such as Nanda Devi, Kamet, and Mana. Its topography and favorable climate make it an ideal venue for international competitions.
