Hyderabad: The Nampally Court on Thursday issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Minister Konda Surekha after she failed to appear for the commencement of trial in the criminal defamation case filed by former minister K T Rama Rao.
The case, registered as C C No 307 of 2025, was scheduled for hearing on December 11. Despite being aware of the posting, she did not appear before the court, nor was any request for exemption filed on her behalf.
Taking a serious view of her repeated absence and what it termed continued non-cooperation, the court ordered the issuance of an NBW to secure her presence. A Non-Bailable Warrant authorises the police to arrest the person named in the order and produce them before the court, and such a person cannot seek release as a matter of right.
The matter has now been adjourned to February 5, 2026, for commencement of trial, subject to the execution of the warrant and the production of the accused before the court.
